Trapia is processing the fish in a modern facility close to Butterworth harbour on the coast of Malaysia. The processing plant is BRC grade A certified, in addition having following certifications:
- Halal
- EU-registered
- Global GAP – Chain of custody
- ISRTA (ASC) – Chain of custody
- HACCP
The fish arrives live at the factory.Then, the harvested tilapia is stunned, bled, and gutted before skinning. The fish is then hand-filleted for maximum yield, and then individually quick frozen in a blast freezer before it is packed for export.
Trapia has installed a percussive stunner making the fish unconscious before it is bled. The factory has a Marel system installed throughout the factory monitoring the fish from it arrives until it leaves as a fillet frozen and packed!
