GenoMar has developed a system for traceability/verification of origin using DNA markers. This is particularly important for products dedicated to the European market. From January 2005 traceability became compulsory in the EU and rules for verification of origin are being established. GenoMar’s technology, GenopassTM, is one of the few technologies that allow verification of origin of the product today.
GenoMar is also using the same technology for salmon production. Currently the technology is used to provide accurate breeding information to Marine Harvest (world largest salmon producer) and to establish GenopassTM for verification of their brand.
GenoMar has set up the subsidiary company Genopass Pte Ltd in Singapore to develop and market this technology under the name Genopass.
